The fluttering butterfly is a common illustration of the interconnectedness of the world we live in. A butterfly’s influence is too small to be of much concern. But when American foreign policy-makers flutter their wings, tidal waves of change can crash on the far shores of the world, and then echo back to the shores of America. Those changes are either for the better or for the worse.

The attack on America on September 11, 2001, was the result of failed American policy echoing back to American shores.”
